ANDREW HARE — JUST CLOUDS
I have always been fascinated by clouds. Such massive things, yet they seem weightless. As a pilot, I’ve flown around them, through them, inspected them up close. They often remind us of mountains, animals, structures. Clouds can be an amazing canvas for color and shadow. Their variety is infinite.
This body of work took shape as a series of oil studies in order to get back into painting in oil after a few years of acrylic. The simple motif of clouds proved to be ideal for trying different ideas and techniques. The project kept evolving in an interesting, imaginative way.
In 1999, after 25 long years in the textile and apparel design business in Los Angeles and Seattle, Andrew left the 9-to-5 world behind and started painting for a living. Known for his large oil and acrylic on canvas paintings, Hare’s work can be found in private collections across the U.S. and Europe.
In his spare time he composes music and enjoys the alternate reality of performing as a studio and live musician with several Northwest bands.
